FACELIFT (Rhyidectomy)/ NECK LIFT IN BOSTON
A facelift is a procedure perfect for someone looking to correct severe jowling, neck fullness, and lower facial laxity. It is great for patients with very heavy, thick skin and for those who have moderate to severe aging changes (and thus are not great candidates for a mini-lift).
What does a facelift do?
A facelift, otherwise known as a rhytidectomy, is performed to rejuvenate the lower face by reducing jowling and laxity. Typically both the lower face and neck are addressed and corrected treated in these procedures. Liposuction may also be included in this procedure, which is great for people who have excess fat under the chin. Liposuction can remove this fat, and then the facelift or neck lift removes of the extra skin from the lower part of the face and corrects the laxity of the neck.
What is the difference between a facelift and a neck lift?
Often performed in conjunction with a facelift, a neck lift is a procedure that removes excess skin and fat below your jawline with the outcome being a more defined and youthful looking neck, improving the visible signs of aging in that area. A neck lift can treat muscle banding, excess fat that creates jowls, fat under the chin, and loose neck skin. The loss of youthful contours in the face and neck can be due to a variety of factors, including heredity, stress, gravity and environmental factors. If you feel like your neck area doesn’t match your upper facial appearance a neck lift could be a great solution for you.
During your consultation with a member of our team we will discuss your concerns and goals of your procedure. A neck lift can also be done with another procedure such as an eyelift lift, brow lift or another treatment for best results.
What can I expect from a Facelift and/or Neck Lift at the DeRosa Clinic?
Dr. DeRosa and her team at the DeRosa Clinic avoid the windswept appearance and instead perform facelifts that give a natural, rested result. A facelift will tighten the underlying tissue and remove the extra skin, neck fat, and jowls that form due to age. Because a facelift can literally “lift” years from your appearance, it has consequently become one of the most popular plastic surgery treatments.
Because your face is the first thing exposed to the world, it is also the means by which first impressions are made. And as a result (either fortunately or unfortunately) your face is certainly the feature most visibly affected by stress vs happiness, levels of sleep, and overall healthiness. When it comes to aging, it seems like there are three general types of categories. First, there are those who look much younger than their years. Second, there are others who look exactly how you’d expect them to look for their age. Last, there are those who -perhaps due to past habits or lifestyles – consequently look far beyond their years. Is this you? If so, the DeRosa Clinic can help.
During your consultation with one of our Doctors, they will carefully discuss your goals for your facelift and will work with you to design a cosmetic surgery plan that best suits your needs. Dr. DeRosa and her team of facial plastic surgeons strive for natural results in every procedure and understands the needs of their Boston clientele. Facelifts are a common request from many patients wanting to feel and look younger. You’ll enjoy the boutique feeling at the DeRosa Clinic which puts clients at ease, as does the personal attention our facial plastic surgeons give to each one of her aesthetic surgery patients.
Dr. DeRosa and her team of facial plastic surgeons are also experts in the mini-facelift, which is a procedure similar to the facelift, though it has a significantly shorter recovery time and is less invasive. Like the facelift, the results are subtle, natural. Both procedures leave the client looking refreshed and beautiful.
DeRosa Clinic recently announced that it is an AAAASF Accredited Surgery Center and the only one of its kind in Boston. Surgeries are performed at our Newbury Street location in the Back Bay under a “twilight sleep”, otherwise known as IV sedation. You can have your surgery performed in our comfortable, private clinic where you can safely have your procedure done and head home comfortably and discreetly. These IV Sedation surgeries are performed by one of the DeRosa Clinic facial plastic surgeons along with a board-certified Physician Anesthesiologist.
As always, our doctors use a conservative approach so that all her otoplasty surgery patients are assured a rejuvenated, natural appearance—and it all takes place right in Boston as an in-office procedure at the DeRosa Clinic.
