TCA CROSS (Chemical Reconstruction of Skin Scars)
Acne is a common inflammatory skin condition that may result in deep depressed scars and ice pick scarring. Acne scars can cause psychological distress for some people. TCA Cross (Chemical Reconstruction Of Skin Scars) is a specialized treatment used to treat depressed or ice pick acne scarring. High concentrations of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is applied directly into the scar(s), stimulating skin resurfacing within the scar to stimulate collagen production. TCA Cross restructures acne scars and reduces their depth. It can also be used to correct depressed dermal scarring from other causes, such as chicken pox scars.
TCA Cross treatment is for scars that can be very difficult to treat and tend not to respond well to Microneedling, filler injections, or Laser. TCA or Trichloroacetic Acid, when applied at a high concentration stimulates collagen formation gradually to fill scars. This is a spot treatment for dermal scars and can be performed alone or after one of our custom facials. Best results are seen after 2-3 sessions over a 3 month period.
During your skin care consultation, a member of our DeRosa Clinic skin care team can discuss a long term skin care plan with you. Once you have completed TCA Cross treatments, microneedling or one of our other treatments may help to further improve your skin tone.
